About Us

A Batak church rooted in the Gospel

Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) was founded on 7 Oktober 1861 in Pearaja, Tarutung. From the Batak land, this church grew into the largest Protestant Christian church in Southeast Asia.

HKBP Glugur serves the congregation in Glugur Darat, Medan. This church is the center of Ressort Medan Utara, Distrik X Medan Aceh.

Meaning of the Emblem

Every line tells of faith

The HKBP emblem sums up the core of the church's belief. Christ is the Head of the Church who reigns over the world.

The Cross

It symbolizes the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Faith in Christ is the foundation of the church in proclaiming the Gospel and serving others.

The Trinity Circle

It pictures the one God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the center of HKBP's belief.

The Letters HKBP

Short for Huria Kristen Batak Protestan. It affirms the identity of a Protestant church born from the Batak people.
